Gemini Tiny Taglite
electronics

We have worked on a wide range of electronic products - including yacht navigation systems, data loggers, computers, hand-held devices and tagging systems - for clients such as Brookes and Gatehouse, Vision, Gemini, GEC Alstom and GEC Cegelec.

Starpoint
Starpoint, a well-known supplier of gaming-machine components, wanted to move into the point-of-sale market. We designed The Scroller (top left), a portable, easy-to-use system that displays a simple rolling filmshow. Ideal for retail shops, estate agents, doctors' surgeries and exhibitions, it can show up to 10 stills on an easily changed film loop. Goodwin developed both the product's electronics and the software that enables users to adjust the filmshow's speed and running order.

Vision
This GPS plotter (left) has a see-through screen that displays a vessel's position and track over a chart or map. Goodwin undertook the conceptual design and, as with the vast majority of our projects, the detail engineering and sourcing of suppliers. The product won a German Red Dot Award for Design Excellence.

Brookes and Gatehouse
We have designed several instrument ranges for Brookes and Gatehouse, as well as auto-pilots, wind instruments and GPS receivers. The Focus navigation system enables sailors to move easily from one function to another, without having to sequence through a number of steps. Focus won the first Design Effectiveness Award.

Gemini
Goodwin's brief was to develop a range of data loggers, called Tiny Tag Lite, that could function in a variety of conditions - including being submerged in 20 m of water at temperatures of 5-85°C. Our response (bottom left) is a basic case design that can be adapted for all products in the range. Sensors and external connections are incorporated into the printed circuit board, avoiding the need for difficult soldering connections inside the case.
