Dear Product Development Designer , I am a Cambridge based sole amateur designer and I would like to have some prototypes made. I am funding the creation of these prototypes personally. Ideally I would like to have three prototypes made; a rubber-like waterproof raincoat for children and two types of rubber-like flip flops. Every one of these designs has a patentable technical aspect; I will be commissioning said prototypes after filing related patent applications. In order to keep my costs down I am largely just interested in functional prototypes and little else.

I will be going on Dragons Den with said prototypes and people - especially kids - are going to absolutely love my products. Arrangements could be made so that the resultant publicity brings more traffic to the website of the product designers that create said prototypes for me too; I will have a website in place before going on Dragons Den.

I can imagine you are used to dealing with companies that have big budgets. My budget however can only stretch to as much as 5000 UK pounds. If I have to I would not mind having only two prototypes made. Could you let me know if you might consider working with me? If you cannot help could you recommend a company that might be interested?

We are preparing an EC call that requires 3 SMEs in Europe. The theme we are exploring is integrated research to help designers. The deadline is 3 Dec 2009. The focus concerns consumer goods, automotive, consumer electronics, appliances, software.

We would like to partner with 2/3 SMEs that specialize in design creation and/or design research through some pilot demonstrations concerning consumer packaging, durable products and eventually software.

We wish to prepare a designer user friendly rapid and intelligent interface, that could be used alongside design programs, to integrate:

-          quantitative small sampling techniques, which we could call dynamic sampling
-          qualitative techniques
-          “insight ready expertise” from a knowledge base

End users and designers could either opt for a privative service or open sharing model where their design executions would remain confidential. In the later case, shared knowledge should help them benefit from more numerous and wider experiences. The design executions would be firstly graphically semantically read to offer designer insight friendly guidance, and when consumer test demands requested, feedback would enable designer to reorient or adapt his creation, also enrich knowledge base.
